Distinguished Leadership & Service Award
Sponsored by EvaluatePharmaRecipient: Ann Shea, California State Library, Sacramento, CA
On behalf of Conference of California Historical SocietiesCCHS helps historians, and others who are interested in history, to connect and share information — joining efforts to preserve records, artifacts, sites, and buildings. CCHS also helps local societies and small museums with skills in management, acquisition, preservation, and restoration techniques.
During Ann’s two years as President, CCHS has introduced a workshop program, which begins to teach the nuts and bolts of running a historical society. They are about to implement a webinar series which will bring these topics to the entire State. She has introduced a monthly newsletter which informs the membership of what is happening with other members and how CCHS is working with the historical community. Under Ann’s leadership, CCHS has restructured investments (or reserve accounts) so that the conference can put more resources back into our members. Initially, this reinvestment was used to give our premiere publication, The California Historian a makeover, and is now being used to refocus our Annual Meeting.
